Dr. Fromer is a family physician who has been in private practice in Santa Monica, California for over 25 years. He is on the Board of Directors of the California Academy of Family Physicians and a past president. Dr. Fromer also sits on the AAFP Commission on Quality, and has served as the Chairman of the Commission on Health Care Services, of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
He has represented the AAFP at the American Informatics Association, the Computerized Medical Record Institute, the National Quality Forum, AHRQ, NCQA, JCAHO, American’s Health Insurance Plans, the National Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Fromer serves as a consultant to the American Medical Informatics Association, California Department of Health Services, and World Foundation for Studies of Female Health. He is a former consultant to the American Medical Association and was a nominee to the National Committee on Vital Health Statistics (NCVHS) of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Fromer is also an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the David E. Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, and at the Western University of Health Sciences. He has contributed numerous research articles and currently is a member of the advisory board of the state of California IMAP (Integrating Medicine and Public Health) Program on Allergy and Asthma. He has chaired The California Endowment’s Medical Leadership Council on Cultural Proficiency for the past five years.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from State University of New York (SUNY) in Albany, New York, Dr. Fromer received his MD, also magna cum laude, at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and completed his residency at the University of California Irvine/Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Fromer is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine.
